3 things I wish I had known before moving to Media Temple

  1. Hi there. Thanks very much for providing this feedback. First of all, I’d like to apologize for any frustration or misunderstanding there may have been regarding our services.

It sounds to me like the (gs) Grid-Service might not be the most ideal plan for you, given the options you require and/or would like to have. Due to the shared nature of the (gs), there are limitations in place when it comes to mass outbound email, static outbound IP, etc. A (dv) Dedicated-Virtual or (ve) Server would allow you to configure your server however you need it.

I am sorry that you did not receive a more in depth answer as to why there can be no static outbound IP on the (gs) Grid-Service. The reason is that the (gs) is designed to load balance, shifting between different nodes as the load fluxuates.

We’d love to speak with you some more about your experience with support. It is our goal to provide friendly, timely & thorough support through several channels, 24/7. Please feel free to email me at [email protected] with more feedback about your experience.

Thanks again. Give us a call, email, or tweet @mediatemple any time!

    1. Hi Sara,

Thanks for your comment. According to your colleague Matt Lebo Media Temple is working on a new email system. I was unaware of this and am excited to see how it works. I will probably write an article about it once it is released. Overall my experience with Media Temple has been good, I just wanted to make sure that people who are researching about it before jumping in were not surprised by the same things as me. I am aware of how the Grid Service works and I still think it is a hosting marvel.
