Do 18 inch Black Rhino Alston wheels fit the Discovery 4?

Do 18 inch Black Rhino Alston wheels fit the Discovery 4?

My Land Rover LR4 came with machined 5 spoke 20 inch wheels. But I like to venture the trails. So I began a search for an 18 inch replacement to give the tire more sidewall. Finally I settled on the Black Rhino Alston 18 inch wheels.

The question was, will the Black Rhino Alston wheels fit a 2010-2016 Land Rover LR4?

The Land Rover LR4 (Discovery 4) has larger front disc brakes. There’s not a lot of information online about these wheels. Most of the info that is available is about the 20 inch Alston. So I wasn’t sure if they would fit. I was ready to pull out the grinder. But no need.

A quick test fit confirmed the 18 inch Black Rhino Alston wheels clear the brakes.

They suit the Land Rover. And after installing them I received three compliments that day.

The Alston’s were originally designed specifically for Land Rover by Redbourne. They specialized in designing classic Land Rover OEM style wheels. And made the Alston wheels to meet demand for rugged, versatile OEM-style wheels that combined classic 5‑spoke aesthetics with off‑road durability.

The minimum load rating of the Land Rover Discovery 4 is 2050 lbs (950kg). When looking for an off-road rim you ideally want margin. As the wheel is going to lift and take hits.

The Alston’s are rated for 2300 lbs (1043kg).

They have a matte black finish with the right amount of sheen. The 5×120 bolt pattern wheels are 18×8.5″ with a centre bore of 74.1. So you will need hub centric rings, which I got when I ordered the wheels. And they weigh 34.80lbs.

The centre caps are the same diameter at the OEM Land Rover centre caps. Making them easy to swap out.

The wheels offer an aggressive but clean 5‑spoke look that works on the minimalistic design of the LR4. You can tell that it is a high quality over-engineered wheel. Which is exactly what you want on a Land Rover.

Overall, very happy with these wheels. They’ve transformed the look of the LR4. Now to hit the trails.
